My interview with Renée Felice Smith

Hey everyone!!!

So I was lucky enough to interview NCIS: Los Angeles actress Renée Felice Smith and I was so excited for it! Renée is such a lovely person (and extremely beautiful too) so enjoy!

1) If you weren't an actress what would you be now?
A. I'd most likely be a real estate agent or an interior designer. I almost stopped acting altogether right before I got cast in NCIS:LA to get my real estate license. Interesting how things work out.

2) Why did you audition for Nell Jones?
A. To put it simply, I was in need of a job and seemed to be right for the role :)

3) How was it to be new in the cast?
A. It felt like the first day of high school all over again. Butterflies and all. I definitely felt like the new girl who just transferred and was in desperate need of some friends to sit with at lunch. Thankfully, everyone was more than welcoming.

4) Who is the biggest joker on set?
A. Hmm it's a toss up. We are truly a cast of characters. Depending on everyone's mood, I think we are all capable of being the joker. That said, Linda Hunt has some killer one liners that consistently slay.

5) Who is your favorite person to work with?
A. Monty. Hands down. Although we haven't had an official scene together, I've had the opportunity to hang with him and his trainer on set. He's such a love. Finger's crossed some day, Monty and Nell will be paired up for an adventure.

6) Do you ship Neric?
A. Well, this question depends on your definition of "ship". I think "ship" means "like", right? So, yes... I like Nell and Eric. But wait, now I'm thinking "ship" may mean to make one of those cute videos showcasing Neric's interactions set to a super bubbly Taylor Swift song about bumble bees. If that's the definition you're going with, then
no, I don't ship Neric but I sure do like them.

7) What was your first acting job?
A. My first job was a Dannon Yogurt commercial at age 7. I threw a basket of fake fruit up in the air over and over again.

8) What has been your favorite acting role so far?
A. Probably "Frenchie" in my high school's production of GREASE: The Musical. I've always wanted to dye my hair pink and in the show, Frenchie's hair is accidentally dyed pink. I wore that wig with a smile on my face.

9) What was your experience on NCIS: LA like?
A. NCIS:LA has been a dream come true. I have a steady job where I get to pretend to be someone else all day. What's better than that? I've learned a ton about the process of
making a television show, all the hours and the many people that work tirelessly to bring our show into living room's across the world each and every week. I've learned that in television, there is no rehearsal period. There's just not enough time for it so you have to walk in on the day and really know what you're doing. Most all of your work is homework and I'm one of the world's worst procrastinators. Television is definitely a fast paced environment but one I've grown to feel comfortable in.

10) What was the NCIS: LA cast like?
A. Everyone was so welcoming when I first joined the show. LL COOL J gave me a hug on my first day and I thought I had popped a rib. The cast and crew made me feel at home right away and I'm really very grateful for that.

11) If you could live in any country, which one would it be and why?
A. I think the UK, specifically London. I really enjoy big cities and the cobble stoned charm of London has always interested me but it wouldn't be a permanent move. It'd be more of an extended vacation.

12) Do you have any tips for an aspiring actress?
A. I would say take classes and learn as much as you can, from as many different teachers as possible. Take both theater scene study classes as well as on camera classes. Watch your peers, you'll learn as much from them as your teacher. Above all, stay positive and remain true to yourself.

13) You are looking younger than you are do you like it? Is it a good thing when you are an actress?
A. I've always had a young face. I don't mind it all. And yes, it is useful as an actress. With hope, it'll help to elongate my career.

14) What has been your favorite episode of NCIS: LA?
A. I'd have to say the holiday episode. I really enjoyed the elf thing. I wanted to keep the ears even after I was done with work.

15) What do you think of the new NCIS spin off?
A. NCIS: Red is a dynamic show with a unique cast of characters. I'm excited to see where it will go!
