Stana Katic is a Canadian born American actress best known for playing Detective Kate Beckett in the NYPD based crime show Castle.

Stana moved from Ontario, Canada to Illinois, U.S.A and spent the years after moving between Canada and America. She is the eldest of 5 siblings.

Season 5 of Castle has just finished, how would you describe it?

Season five is cheeky. It’s got its tongue placed firmly in its cheek. Castle [played by Nathan Fillion] and Beckett are finally together, and now they have to navigate what that means when nobody in the precinct is allowed to know. The NYC police department has a strict policy about co-workers dating. It’s not allowed.

At the end of Season 4, we saw Castle and Beckett get together, how do you feel about them being together?

I think it was definitely time for them to be together. And I’m glad they are. I’ve always been of the opinion that they belong together. This season, I’m excited that we get to see them navigate what it means for them to be together. Plus, we’re going to explore some of the other characters as well. It’s a really fun and interesting season.

You have been playing Kate Beckett for 5 seasons, what are your favourite parts about playing her?

I think Becket is wonderful because she is imperfect – but in spite of her imperfections, she tries to do the right thing. She might not always get it right, but she’s trying. She’s interesting to me because she’s so complex and I think that makes her more believable in the end.

We did have the Castle 100 episode this season, what’s been the best part about working on the show?

I came on to Castle very green and I’ve learned so much on this show. When you’re climbing a mountain; you don’t focus on the peak - and that’s how I’ve approached it. It’s been a great education because I was very new to this type of television. Eventually, I’ll walk away with a lot of knowledge – and I’ll know what it means to have the stamina to make it to 100 episodes and beyond.

In the future, when you look back on the show, what will be the one thing that stands out?

I’ve got so many great memories from working on this show, but I guess the memory that will stick out the most is the amazing friendships I’ve made on this set. I’ve met some really spectacular, amazing, talented people thorough this project.
